The Band
At the beginning of the 90's my friend Erich Hartig and I (Juergen Felder) began to record songs at my home in Nuernberg on an 8-Track Tape Recorder. We were influenced a lot by the music of the australian band "The Church" so it sounds a little bit like this music. The second influence was the German band The Stairs/Die Profis. So we originally called our "band" The Chairs (a combination of Church and Stairs). Unfortunately this band name already existed before we weren't able to publish anything. That's why we are now known as "The Blue Chairs" (another good friend of mine, Marc Stuewe, came up with the name and we left it at that).
Our favourite guitars are Rickenbacker and Erich has a big collection of it. I only own one, a model 481 in fireglow. As the years passed by the musical influences changed and so did the sound. Unfortunately we live in different cities and Erich lives about 500 km away. That's why we aren't able to make music together very often and during the last few years everyone of us made music his own way (but we're looking forward to go back to the "studio" together some day).
The so called "studio" - where the songs are recorded - is in my bedroom. It's not very large so we can only work with a drum computer - the songs would defenitely sound better with real drums. It's a real pity (fortunately we have a new one since early 2000 and so the drum sound is not that bad anymore like it was back in the 90's).
The first Blue Chairs single (and the only one for the moment) "Ask me tomorrow" was recorded with Marc Stuewe and his brother Kai on drums/bass in a private studio near Hamburg. Years later Marc made a CD of my two songs for a birthday present. He called his label "Casino Records" and a second CD was made with music from his brother Kai under the name "Simple Thing". That was all till now (for more information you can contact him right here)
The Song "Ask me tomorrow" has also been released on the compilation sampler CD "These are the songs we always wanted to hear" from Firestation Tower Records in Germany. We are all big fans of PowerPop music and Mod Revival from all over the world - of course also of The Beatles, The Who ... and many, many more.
So lean back and relax, and hear the diversity in all the songs
